Biography:
He was born on May 19, 1871 in Tarnow city of Poland Kingdom of the Russian Empire (since 1999, part of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship of the Republic of Poland).
In 1889 he graduated from the gymnasium in Tarnow city and after a year of military service entered the Jagiellonian University. During his studies at the university since October 1, 1892 to the end of September 1895, he was an assistant at the Astronomical Observatory of the Jagiellonian University.
Since 1895 to 1900 he studied astronomy and physical sciences at the universities of Bonn and Munich, earning a doctorate. He participated in photometric studies of the star New Perseus at the observatory at the Main Astronomical Observatory in Pulkovo. In the spring of 1902 he became an adjunct professor at the Jagiellonian University Observatory. In 1907 he worked as a fellow at the University of Stuttgart and then at the Geodetic Institute in Potsdam city.
Until 1909 he worked at the Krakow Observatory.
In 1909 he became a professor at the Department of Topography (Miernctwa) II, head of meteorological and seismic stations. According to some sources, in March 1909 he was appointed professor of metrology. He soon became a member of the Lviv Scientific Society.
Also during 1909-1941 he headed the observatory of Lviv Polytechnic. In 1912 he became a professor of spherical astronomy and higher geodesy at Lviv Polytechnic.
For the first time he organized a continuous time service, work of seismic and meteorological services in Lviv city.
In 1933, the scientist became a member of the Academy of Technical Sciences in Warsaw city.
In 1025 he was elected a member of the International Astronomical Union.
From 1927 he was a member of the State Astronomical Committee. Author of 50 articles on astronomy and geodesy.
In 1938 he was awarded the title of Doctor honois causa of the Warsaw University of Technology.
He received several awards for his scientific achievements: he received the Golden Cross of Merit, in 1932 he received the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restitute for extremely zealous, fruitful and dedicated cooperation with the Military Geographical Institute, in 1936 he received the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restitute.

He mastered 7 languages, played the piano well.
The series of scientific achievements of the scientist can be noted as follows: thanks to his efforts, the geodetic station "Lviv", the only station in the whole country, was included in the global network of observations, in 1925/26 he accurately determined the longitude of Lviv, and in 1928/29. together with Dr. Joseph Riesner and latitude.
