The Role of Data Science in Astronomy and Interstellar Exploration
Space has always been a fascinating frontier for humans. From the first satellite, Sputnik 1, in 1957, to the amazing Mars rovers, our adventures in space show our love for discovery, creativity, and courage. Exploring space is a big dream, always pushing us to learn more and go further. Nowadays, data science is making a meaningful contribution to space technology. It's changing how we think about space. Being able to gather, understand, and use lots of data has helped us get to know the universe better and has changed how we explore and move through space...

GRID-based Virtual Observatory VIRGO.UA
VO VIRGO.UA for cosmology and astrophysics is a segment of VO «Infrastructure»- a virtual organization, which deals with ensuring the provision of standards for Grid Services for virtual organizations, to ensure reliability functioning of the Ukrainian power grid, Grid training for users and administrators of the Grid sites, as well as the creation of technical conditions UNG for entry into the international grid community...

WDC-Ukraine
WDC-Ukraine is a part of World Data Center System of the International Council of Science (ICSU). Among the basic tasks of WDC-Ukraine there is collection, handling and storage of science data and giving access to it for usage both in science research and study process. That include contemporary tutoring technologies and resources of e-libraries and archives; remote access to own information resources for the wide circle of scientists from the universities and science institutions of Ukraine...

IVOA NEWSLETTER
US VAO Data Discovery Portal
Find datasets from thousands of astronomical collections known to the VO and over wide areas of the sky. This includes important collections from archives around the world. Feedback on your experience with the tool is appreciated -- please send your comments, suggestions, and questions to the VAO Help Desk.

US VAO Cross-Comparison Tool
Perform fast positional cross-matches between an input table of up to 1 million sources and common astronomical source catalogs, such as 2MASS, SDSS DR7 and USNO-B. Feedback on your experience with the tool is appreciated -- please send your comments, suggestions, and questions to the VAO Help Desk.

VOPlot v1.8 Beta
VOPlot v1.8Beta includes many enhancements and bug fixes. To name a few v1.8Beta supports multi-grid plots for 2D Scatter-Plot which allows the user to have multiple plots having grid size from 1x1 to 3x3 in a single window. Paginated view is added to see data in tabular format which allows user to navigate systematically. Provision to label Lat/Long lines is also added. Users can now plot a cumulative histogram for all histogram types. VOPlot 1.8Beta shows the metadata of a FITS file instantaneously while the actual loading happens in background. VOPlot v1.8Beta also provides better handling of "faulty data" while parsing an ASCII file.

At that time he held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, serving as Chief of Staff of the 102nd Infantry Division. In 1912 he was seconded to the Nikolay Main astromomic Observatory in Pulkovo. In 1913-1914 he worked at the Pulkovo Observatory, at the same time received a diploma. In 1914 he trained at the Paris Observatory.

Since August 1914, participated in the First World War. In September 1916, in the rank of captain of the Corps of military topographers, he was blaming the duties of the senior adjutant of the staff of the 1st Turkestan infantry brigade. He was rewarded with St. George's Army on September 27, 1916. Since October 26, 1917, he became the computer engineer at the military topographical department of the General Directorate of the General Staff. He was the Chief of Staff of the 102nd Infantry Division. On November 21, 1918 he served in the Hetman's army in the rank of the Military elder was part of the geodesic administration of the Don Army, and since June 17, appointed an astronomer. According to some data from 1918 he taught geodesy at the Technical Institute in Kyiv city, and since 1919 he has been the highest geodesy at the geographical department of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the St. Volodymyr Kyiv University. In May 1920 he became assistant chief of staff of the 2nd Don Cavalry Division. In the summer of 1920 he served in the Russian Army in the Crimea, having the rank of colonel. Emigrated to Yugoslavia in early 1921. His wife and daughter were evacuated in early 1920 from Novorossiysk city to Antiogon ciy on the transport "Brienne". In September 1930 he became a member of the General Staff Officers' Society.

Here he settled himself first at the Military Geographical Institute in Belgrade City.

Since 1924 he was a member of the Committee of the Directorate General for Cadastre; his efforts in the cadastral change was to apply the projection of Gauss-Kruger.

In 1927 he began teaching at the Zagreb University, becoming an ordinary professor of the geodesic department of the Technical Faculty. It is known that here during 1942-1950 he taught higher geodesy, astronomy, cartography and photogrammetry. For some time he was the head of the department of higher geodesy, and in 1937 his efforts were based Astronomical Institute, which he himself and headed.

He headed the Academic Group of Russian Scientists in Zagreb city, which was a subsidiary of the central organization in Belgrade City.

For his merits after the Second World War, in 1948 the astronomer-geodesist was elected a corresponding member of the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts. However, in 1951 the scientist decided to return to his homeland.

During his time at Zagreb University he wrote about 10 scientific articles on geodesy and military topography in Serbian-Croatian and Russian. Most of them were published in collections of the Russian Scientific Institute.

In 1941 the monograph of the scientist "Determination of the Geographic Latitude of the Astronomical Laboratory of the Technical Faculty of the Zagreb University" was published (Zagreb, 1941).

Scientist died June 9, 1965 and was buried in Grozny City.
