General data:
1923 - 1998-05-05
Studied in: M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University ();
Key interests: stellar photospheres, variable stars
Biography:
She was born in 1923.
She graduated from M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University.
During the Great Patriotic War of the USSR against Nazi Germany, which was part of World War II, the student took part in the air defense of Moscow City.
After graduating from the university, she worked for several years at the P. K. Shtenberg Astronomical Institute of the M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Since 1959 she worked at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. Performed observations on the Zeiss-50 Telescope. She studied the physical conditions in the atmospheres of stars and the phenomena of their variability. She observed on the fifty-inch telescope of the observatory, received a large collection of stellar spectra. She was among the first to study the spectra of hot stars, which are sources of X-rays.
Together with I. M. Kopylov, E. A. Vitrichenko, O. P. Golandsky performed a series of works on the quantitative analysis of the atmospheres of 25 hot supergiants of spectral classes O9-F2, the spectra of which were obtained with a dispersion of 23Å / mm on a prism spectrograph 50″ telescope. The main results of these studies are as follows. The character of the dependence of the velocity microturbulence on the spectral class is studied. Two possible reasons for the presence of two maxima of this dependence are discussed, namely: the change in the depth of the convective zone and the depth of formation of spectral lines in the atmosphere. The overpopulation of the singlet level of helium relative to the triplet level in the atmospheres of the O6-A0 supergiants has been confirmed. No anomalies were found in the relative chemical composition of the atmospheres of the studied supergiants in comparison with the "standard" chemical composition of the stars and the Sun.
The scientist is the author of more than 50 scientific articles.
Several times she was elected a deputy of the Bakhchisaray District Council.
She died on May 5, 1998.
