Biography:
He was born on May 17, 1982, in the Talalayevka urban village of Chernihiv region of Ukrainian SSR.
In 1999 he graduated from the Talalaev High School with a gold medal and in the same year I entered the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University at the Faculty of Physics.
In 2004, he choked the Department of Astronomy at the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, having received a Master's degree in Astronomy with honors. Graduate work was performed under the curse of D.F. Romanyuk J. I. on the basis of observations on the Large Azimuthal Telescope (BTA) in the Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Bachelor work on the 4th year studding at the university which is dedicated to speckle-interferometry of double stars was also made by his observations in Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences under the guidance of Pluzhnik E. O.
In the same year 2004 he entered the Aspiration of the Special Astromatic Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Nizhniy Arhiz urban village and graduated it in 2007.
He works at Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences as Senior Researcher since 2013. In addition, he is responsible for the spectroscopy method with the main stellar spectrograph of the 6th BTA telescope and holds the post of secretary of the scientific and technical council of the Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 2008, E. A. Semenko was transferred to the position of junior researcher.
In April 2009, he defended his Ph.D. thesis at the Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences: "Investigation of physical parameters and kinematics of a sample of new magnetic chemically peculiar stars" in the specialty 01.03.02 - Astrophysics and Radio Astronomy. Ph.D., Romaniuk J.I. was his research supervisor.
Since 2008, E. A. Semenko has been the secretary of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Special Astronomical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 2010, E. A. Semenko was transferred to the position of research assistant.
Together with science, he is also engaged in the popularization of scientific knowledge: he has been conducting tours of telescopes at the Observatory of Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences for more than 10 years, taking part in popular scientific events in various places with lectures there, reports, inter alia, periodically reading lectures for students of the Astrophysical School "Trajectory", interacting with oneself start of the project. During his work at the Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he was in the Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and he was the leader of three graduate students, two of whom decided to pursue a career in the astronomer at Special astrophysical observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 2018, he was nominated as a member of the International Astronomical Union.
He is the author and co-author of more than 60 scientific works, most of which are in the editions of the WoS and Scopus listings.
The main areas of scientific work are the physics of stellar atmospheres, observatory astrophysics, spectroscopy and spectropolarimetry.
D. O. Kudryavtsev, J. I. Romanyuk and E. A. Semenko and other employees of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the spectrum of the star HD 178892, the magnetic field of which was first discovered as a result of observations with the Zeeman analyzer on the BTA Main Stellar Spectrograph, was detected split polarized Zeeman components of some lines. In the course of the study, the effective temperature of the star was determined (Teff = 7700 ± 500 K) and a preliminary analysis of the chemical composition was carried out, which, as it turned out, is characteristic of roAp stars. In terms of surface field, the star HD 178892 was the record holder among cold CP stars.
D. O. Kudryavtsev, J. I. Romanyuk, and E. A. Semenko together with G. A. Solovyov in 2006 based on spectra obtained at the OZSP of the BTA telescope with a resolution R of about 15000 and a signal-to-noise ratio of 100-200, determined the radial velocities and rotation velocities of 32 new magnetic SR stars.
J. I. Romaniuk and E. A. Semenko studied the spatial distribution of magnetic SR stars in our Galaxy, their kinematics and some physical parameters depending on the position in the Local System.
In 2008, a large team of researchers, including E. A. Semenko, a study of the atmospheric properties of the star HD 115708, which was previously suspected of belonging to the class of pulsating roAp stars, was completed.
E. A. Semenko and E. Yu. Kuchaeva together with Kazan University student I. A. Yakunin studied the magnetic field and chemical composition of the stars HD 5797 and HD 40711.
I. A. Yakunin, G. A. Chuntonov, E. A. Semenko and E. I. Romaniuk observed linear polarization in the spectral lines of the unique star HD 37776 with an anomalous excess of helium.
In 2016, E. A. Semenko led the observation of some of the most interesting magnetic stars with the phase of the rotation period, in particular HD 34736 and HD 34736.
In 2015, J. I. Romanyuk, D. O. Kudryavtsev, E. A. Semenko, and I. A. Yakunin summed up 15 years of work on monitoring the magnetic field of the star HD 965.
